Day 2 - I finished this today. It was a fun and interesting one to paint. Trying to capture a see-through bubble whilst also trying to capture the light within it. WIP Day 1 - Today, I mostly focused on getting the background in place and the basic placement of the ice bubbles. Next week, I'll focus on putting the ice fractals in the big bubble. Then, creating more ice on the ground. Once that's all done, I'll reassess what else is required. The theme for this painting is "Blink of an Eye". These ice bubbles form quickly but also don't last long. Their beauty is fleeting.

Day 3 - Finished and ready for the KPMG Art Exhibition later in the year. The theme is "In the Blink of an Eye". Title: 'Brief Encounter' Description: A delicate blue butterfly pauses on the soft petals of a pink dahlia. Quick 3 hour study - I couldn't go into the studio today because have l have covid. (Almost fully recovered now) So I decided to do a small study initially I was just painting the nose trying to focus mostly on form not perfection. But once I'd done the nose. I thought I'd add in some basic eye and lip shapes. I got a little carried away with them but still very simple focusing only on basic structure. Then, Interestingly, just as I finished, the green tape under the lip bugged me so I really quickly, just a few seconds and a few strokes added a very simple chin and it looks pretty good. It originally ended at the dark shadow under the lip. This shows me very simple basic marks is all that's needed. Yeah the highlight is too bright but it's not about perfection. The closed eyes have very little done. In fact you can see the light blue canvas coming through.
