WIP Day 2 - today I focused mostly on the background and post. And added some more darks to the raccoon and a few lights around his face. Still a long way to go. But starting to take shape. I plan on him being more grey than brown when he's finished. But still want some variety of colour. #oilpainting #artwork #artist #painting #WIPArt

Thank you to my amazing husband for rearranging my art room today. It's now alot more user friendly. It still needs alot of reorganising of all the supplies in the cupboards but for now it's a beautiful clean space to work in. I look forward to starting work on my next painting in this space. I'm lucky enough to work in two studios. My home studio and the Access Arts Studio at Yeronga. Having two studios to work in is especially helpful when working with oil paint as you need to allow drying time between each session. This way I can have two paintings on the go at once.

WIP Day 1 - Block in stage again. Beginning a new painting today for the upcoming @recoveredfutures exhibition. Another Raccoon. So far each raccoon I've painted has sold at this exhibition so whilst they are still popular I plan to keep doing them. They are so fun to paint and I feel their little faces convey emotions just like us humans. It's early stages, so not much going on yet. And I usually paint the backgrounds first but I only had a short 3 hour session today so thought I'd get my darks in so that can dry for next week. WIP Day 5 - I think it might be finished. I'll look at it with fresh eyes next week and decide then. Today I worked on the waves and water. Reshaped a small part of the river near my favourite spot. I softened the dark green in the mid section. I added highlights to the houses in the foreground. There's always more I could do but I'm not sure it's necessarily going to enhance the painting if I do. With this painting I'm going more for the overall feel of the painting.
